Breastfeeding - Problem Solved

Remember my post on Rusty Pipe Syndrome?

Here's exactly what I did. *Pardon for the hideous hand writing. I have to get used to using the stylus.*

I let the milk set in the chiller. And later when the milk forms layers - fat (top most), milk (middle) and water (bottom most), I noticed there's a layer of blood cells underneath. So, I decided to pour the milk, together with the fat until the layer of blood emerged. And I discarded the bloody part. Easy wasn't it?

How I did it
Since 3oz is A LOT for me, I decided not to put them to waste. Why people keep on lamenting "Owh my milk is mixed with blood! I have to them ALL AWAY!!!" when you actually feeding your baby on same breast which produces milk and blood at the same time? Isn't it just the same? If you disagree with me, have it your way. I'm keeping my milk and letting my daughter feeding on directly actually heals the Rusty Pipe Syndrome a lot quicker than I think. The pain is all gone now. Alhamdulillah.

Breastfeeding - Rusty Pipe Syndrome

Recently I answered a survey at KIM on Rusty Pipe Syndrome. After more than a year nursing Amna, I had rusty pipe syndrome yesterday. At first it felt like LDR then suddenly I saw the milk the in bottle turned pinkish. And then it started to feel like "bruised" underneath the right breast. No nipple crack what-so-ever. Just the milk turned pink - kalau tenung lama-lama baru perasan. But hey, I've been handling my milk since day 1, so of course I notice the difference kan?

And this morning I could see the red cells sunk at the bottom of the bottle.

Regardless what pump you use, hand expression or not, rusty pipe syndrome could happen to any nursing mothers - with a possibility of you might accidentally 'hurt' (trauma) your breasts.

So what should I do with te pumped milk? Jadikan bekal la of course. Since the pink part sinks to the bottom, discard only that part and use the top part. Ramai sangat risau anak minum darahla apa la. Dah tu kalau direct feed pun sama jugak kan? :D

Selesai satu masalah. Cuma sebelah ni masih rasa sakit. Whoah. Pump pagi tadi pun dapat 3oz (tandem - I like!)

Since the pain is less now, I can do pumping as usual. Marmet can wait - fearing that it will worsen the condition.

Keep calm and breastfeed. ;)

Orange + Plum Oatmeal Cookies - 1 Year Old

I made these cookies for Amna during the weekend. Nutritious, yet very delicious! I thank Kak Hasnita Shaari for the inspiration. She initially did orange + raisins, but I don't have raisins, so I used plums instead. You can substitute with dried cranberries, dates, dried apricots etc.

For babies under 1 year old, you can omit the honey and blend in dates puree - for the sweet taste :D. I mixed the prunes with flour before adding into the batter so that the prunes won't stick to each other - thus making a lumpy mess heheheh~

VCool Cooler Bag Review

Ok. Remember my previous entry? Read here.

I used the cooler bag with a Coleman Bright ice block (as per picture) - yesterday until 9.00pm, the block was still cold, so did my EBM. Yeayyyy~!!!

So it could withstand more than 12 hours (I prepared my bag at 7.00 am and reached home around 9.00pm - went for dinner at Alamanda). Imagine with more ice packs and all? Mesti lagi lama kan? :D

Ok, selamat cooler-bag-hunting heheeheh~

The Camouflage Cooler Bag - VCool

My new baby!!!
(Amna'a a toddler now hehe)

Look what I've bought!!! A camouflage cooler bag! Wheeee~!!!

Because my current cooler bag is already like this:

Sedih kan. Poket dah rebeh sebab suka sumbat handphone + wallet :(
Plus, comot too.

What's good about the new cooler bag? Here's my review (just arrived today so no review on the performance yet, just the physical)
  1. 2 separated compartments. Upper one for the pump and the lower one for the bottles.
  2. Upper compartment can fit the whole Medela Harmony (with the handle and all) all together!
  3. Can fit 6 Medela 150ml bottles, including 1 Coleman Bright Icepack
  4. I love the camouflage pattern. Hahahaha....
Tak sabar nak carry around with my camouflage SSC hahahahahaah *over excited and over obsessed with the camouflage*

Until then. :D

The Noctural Amna

Again. I've been attacked by the vicious reverse cycle.

However, last night was rather hilarious and awe-moment too. Amna has started walking! Actually it's a no surprise (she's just refuses to walk, she can stand without support fore more than 3 seconds) but she's being actually-walking (in the middle of the night) is a HUGE achievement for me (and her). The proud look on her face - and how her face beaming with smiles and giggles - PRICELESS!!! :') Alhamdulillah....

*tak sempat ambik gambar sebab it was rather dark in the room - with only the night lamp on*

These days I put on her shoes just to show her how to walk in her shoes (it was a birthday present). Anticipating her to walk (I thought she could walk at least at 10 month old - but NAY. Takpe, let your child grow according to her own phase and never compare with other babies - or yourself) is kind of nerve-wrecking because people keep on asking "Amna dah pandai jalan ke?" - I kept on my positive tone by saying "She's walking but she just refuses to show her real talent". Babies are individuals - the mantra I keep on using when people (especially relatives) who are SO EAGER to show off how their grandchildren/nieces/nephews/children could roll over/crawl/walk/talk/top achiever at a very young age. No point of refuting these people with your uttered information-according-to-the-paediatricians because it is just seemingly unimportant to them.

Anyway, speaking of showing off, we have been shoved with the false information of "Fat babies are healthy babies". NO. If a fat baby is fat because she was fed with formula milk, it's confirmed because the sugar in the formula milk made her so. Yes, chubby babies are adorable and nice to pinch the cheeks but hey, ALL BABIES ARE CUTE NO MATTER WHAT - be them thin, chubby, small, big, awkward looking - just face it - all mothers think their babies are the best/cutest babies in the whole wide world, or the universe.

So if you feel like you child is small, DO NOT COMPARE WITH other siblings/cousins/friends' babies because as long as she feeds on your milk/eating/poo/pee/very active - everything is normal. Come on, if you yourself is a small frame/petite mom and got married to a petite *ehem* guy, how could your child be so bulky/big/chubby? Think of the rationality and being sensible :P

Ok. That's all.

P/s : Another manual coming soon - but I haven't started drawing, just yet ;)

Stressful Weeks

Argh.

I feel like there's a twsited knot in my shoulders. Betapa stressnya handling OBB. Dengan sistem tengah hang, jammed sebab juta-juta maklumat nak dimasukkan serentak by hundreds and thousands of PTJs.

And, it's taking a toll on my milk production. Imagine these 2 weeks I barely reach 15oz production per day! Mula lah gigih buat power pumping whenever necessary. Alhamdulillah stock masih banyak but then until when kan??? Tak cukup power pumping, hari-hari minum horlicks and consume habbatussawda. Anything that will boost up / lift up my mood (saya bukan makan supplements untuk boost up my milk, but rather to boost up my energy).

Amna? Dah pandaiiiiii... "Siapa nama Amna?" *quickly she raises her hand and make sound "Eyyy!" - means "Saya"*

Boleh nak cucuk USB port for mouse! Pandai sangat nehhhh. IT savvy gituuu haha.. Dah pandai buat bunyi "Toititototoo...blem blem blem... Eeeeikkkk!" - God knows what she's babbling about hehe...

Loves Quran recitations, selawat and nasheed very much! Alhamdulillah... Sejuk hati ibu :D

Ok lah. All in 2 weeks' update. Bencinyehhhh seteressss gini. Bila lah nak up balik production ni *capai pump for second session*
