Salam Ramadhan. It's day 2 already?

Busy. Jadi takde nak update sangat. BUT, I have new kind of indulgence these days - woven wraps. Hahahaha... yes, sangat detrimental for the pocket I can say!

I bought my first woven wrap a month ago (in May) and I LOVE it to bits! The thing is, some people like new things but there's this trade secret within the babywearing world - buy the 'broken-in' ones so that you don't have to trouble yourself going through all those starchy-diggy-wraps. I got mine from a mama from Babywearing Mamas (BWM) group in Facebook. Boyyyyyy everyone was jealous of the colours and many mamas queue on the DIBS (do inform before selling - chup la kiranya).

It is super soft and those who tried it on during small gathering in June totally loved it! I wore it in public for umpteen times but the only time I managed to capture it in action was during Ahmad's audiology assessment early June (before I got back to work from my maternity leave).

A week after I got my Rainbow, one of the admins of BWM pm-ed me and asked if I would like to buy her Wrapsody Aurora. I said yes without hesitant and paid it with a payment plan. I just got it last week. Yeayyyyy... And I've been spamming my wall with action pictures.

And it never fails to make Ahmad sleep. I always do my house chores in wraps or SSC.

I've been experimenting with the ties in the book so please bear with my enthusiasm hahaha... Will definitely try with back carry because it is easier for me to cook. And safety measures for Ahmad too.

How to choose the right carrier for your baby?

For newborns, and especially for a newbie mommies, try a ring sling. You could always opt for a batik sling, sewn or no-sew. Be careful with the rings because we need a metal ring with no openings. The best rings are the aluminium rings. DO NOT buy ring slings with nylon or plastic rings. There have been cases reported that the rings snapped or broken - and the rest you can guess.

And, DO NOT buy front-facing carriers, or crotch carrier (narrow-based hip). Illustrations as per below shows why we should not buy narrow-based carriers or hipseat:

Personally I prefer wraps. A wrap is also very, very comfy because I get to nurse my baby while walking around! Yeaaa... and Ahmad prefers wraps too because it snugs him in place. Asal keluar masuk dalam wrap je tidur or memang duduk diam. Refer to my pictures in action. Heheheheheh~ *racun*

Tapi kalau nak cepat, e.g. from the car to the nursery (20-30 metres), I'd buckle up my SSC. This is because Ahmad already has good head control, hence the SSC. If your baby still hasn't have his head control, use a ring sling. SSC is recommended for babies from 4 months old and above. You can actually watch tutorials on how to tie your wraps and ring sling on YouTube for better demonstration. I might do my own version of tutorial styles too, if I'm that rajin :P

Babies' Product - Mimijumi and Yoomi Bottle

Assalamu'alaykum!

Masa untuk buat list pembelian barangan bayi. Semalam EL - tak boleh berjalan huhuhu... sakit sangat area pangkal peha tu jadi tak boleh nak bangun dari katil. Nak pergi clinic takde orang nak hantarkan - Encik Rezalman terpaksa stay back kat office siapkan tender T__T. Jadi habiskan masa browsing je kat rumah sambil reply emails office yang tidak berkesudahan tu. Ni namanya dah sampai phase berjaga-jaga sebab anytime from now dah boleh pergi hospital *freaks out*

Mengimbau kembali pengalaman beli bottle, paling mahal bottle pernah beli untuk Amna dulu ialah Mimijumi 8oz bottle. Perghhhh harga menggegar jiwa. RM87! Beli online from One Baby World (yelah dalam pantang online shopping jelah kerjanya haha). Last-last Amna minum je pakai teat NUK. Hahaha.... By 11 months old dia dah weaned off from bottles and start minum pakai sippy cup saja.

Tak pasal-pasal kang botol susu mahal rosak gitu je - just like what happened to Medela bottles masa mula-mula hantar Amna dulu sebab pegi rendah air panas menggelegak. Dahla dalam tu isi EBM T__T

So nak try ke tak Yoomi ni ye? Nak jugak experiment dengan gadgets ni haha (ingat lelaki je ke ada gadget canggih, nursing moms pun ada okeh!).

Kira kat Cilix Store ni jual lagi murahla dari kedai-kedai online yang lain. Ada yang saya tengok jual RM140 for 8oz feeding set (katanya save RM19.90). Tapi bila tengok kat Cilix Store ni harganya RM129, and free shipping! Hohohohoho~

I Want A Swing!

I badly need a swing. Sebab Amna suka sangat naik buai sampai jatuh terjelepuk. Then suruh angkat nak naik lagi -_-

So I think by having this one at home, bolehlah tumpang-tumpang feeling lepak depan porch petang-petang miahahahahhahaa~ Or I can buy this one for me and another toddler swing for Amna?

Owhhhh parcel datang bertimpa-timpa hari ini : Moogoo, t-shirt Muslimah *kedengaran encik husband  cakap "baju lagi??? yang ada ni pun tak terkira dah"* dan car sticker KIM. Menariknya packaging Moogoo ni menyebabkan saya tersuper excited ambik gambar bertubi-tubi ibarat seorang yang jakun tak pernah jumpa parcel. Yela, adalah sangat comel!!! Sebenarnya saya repeat order eczema skin care. Sebab? Saya malas nak beli facial wash jadi saya pakai ajelah sabun mandi Moogoo ni hahahahaha *kedekut*. Boleh share dengan Amna jugak hihihihihii... Owh bagi yang tak tau, saya ada masalah kulit kepala sensitif. Disebabkan syampu mahal tertinggal di kampung (ok tipu, Moogoo lagi mahal haha), baru-baru ni saya pakai Head and Shoulders dan saya tergaru-garu seperti berkutu gayanya.

Custome-made Soft Structured Carrier (SSC) Review

Semalam patutnya gembira terima SSC tapi sebab sedih sangat Amna jatuh kerusi (bad mommy!), jadi terus-terusan masih rasa bersalah tiap-tiap kali teringat perkara tu.

Saya dah pernah tempah SSC ni dengan Erin Adzmi - my first SSC ever, camouflage. Begitu viral sekali sebab kawan-kawan dah 2-3 orang order camouflage. Semuanya husband yang pakai tapi husband saya malu nak pakai - bini je semangat pakai camouflage SSC (nasib tak jadi askar je).

First SSC - sangat best!!!! Memang senang kuhenyak ke mana-mana. Balik kampunglah, Pergi beli groceries lah... Best! Sebab tahan lasak dan senang handsfree. Bought it in November 2012. Almost 6 months dah.

Adjustable shoulder strap - sebab saya pernah bagitau Kak Erin the buckle tu bergesek kat bawah lengan or ketiak - so she adjusted the shoulder strap and tadaaa~!! Boleh adjust kalau orang tu tinggi atau rendah. No more rubbing under your arms buckles. Ada chair harness - Tak perlu lagi baby chair mahal-mahal. Kat rumah tu sangkut je baby kat kerusi. Boleh makan sekali kat meja. Baru dapat on the 10th of April hehehhe~ and, sesuai untuk carry smaller babies. So tak payah nak beli child seat booster ke apa. Sonang bona ni.

2. Choices of Padding - from light padding to full hard foam padding

Ok, yang ni masih getting used to it.
Lengan menggemuk jadi memang payah sikit nak adjust compared to the old Camouflage SSC

Sturdier padding made of foam - sesuai untuk hiking. Mostly material is similar to hiking bag and very comfy.

3. Level 1 - head support (babies) and under arms (for toddlers) that comes together

Ni bila release buckle bahu tu -  LEVEL 1
Level 1 ni kira ukuran bawah ketiak anak.
Jadi kalau nak tempah, bagitau Erin ye the height from neck until under arms.

Head support - higher body panel so that boleh pakai dari baby kecik coet sampai besar gedabak - can withstand up to 22kg. Sebab Amna dah tinggi, tangan beliau melempai-lempai sahaja di luar hahahahah~

4. Easy to Slide Chest Strap - despite of having adjustable buckle

Ingatkan dah ada adjustable buckle tu susah nak tarik chest strap - tapi senang. Cuma nak self-buckle tu macam payah sikit sebab tak biasa dengan padding tebal kan. So practice makes perfect lah kan. Hihihihi... I realise that kalau longgarkan dulu the chest strap tu supaya senang nak tarik. Then lepas buckle up tu baru ketatkan - Done! That's the trick hehehehhehe

5. Pouch

Boleh adjust kedudukan - kiri/kanan/tengah.

Woiiii ini adalah kegemaranku! Saya sangat tak suka bawak handbag bagai, mudah sungguhhh hehehe... Owh, yang pakai wallet gedabak tu harap maaf ye, ini sesuai untuk orang yang pakai wallet lelaki, like me hahahah...  Pouch is attached with velcro - boleh pasang kat tali pinggang husband sekali hehe. Boleh muat Samsung Note II. For those yang pakai bulky cover, memang tak muat. Haha... Boleh sumbat semua lepas ni. No more hassle nak bawak handbag. Payah kan mak-mak ganas ni. Semua pun malas nak bawak haha.

p/s: Actually mintak kaler ni tapi Kak Erin cakap vendor dah out of stock. So ambik kaler hijau :D

Masih lagi getting used to the new SSC. Sebab shoulder pad tebal, jadi macam perasaan Robocop tu ada. Kena lenjan dulu kasi lunyai. Baru pakai sekali dua maaa... Tunggu review detail okeh! Ada banyak lagi features macam child harness (comes together), sleeping pad (sold separately), drool pads (sold separately) etc.

Owh, my buddy Fara told me yang kadang-kadang ada rasa tekanan pada bahu - I told her perhaps chest strap tu tak cukup ketat. We'll see if she could troubleshoot the problem. More to come, worry not :). In the next review we'll cover on the material, safety issues and troubleshooting the new SSC ;)

VCool Cooler Bag Review

Ok. Remember my previous entry? Read here.

I used the cooler bag with a Coleman Bright ice block (as per picture) - yesterday until 9.00pm, the block was still cold, so did my EBM. Yeayyyy~!!!

So it could withstand more than 12 hours (I prepared my bag at 7.00 am and reached home around 9.00pm - went for dinner at Alamanda). Imagine with more ice packs and all? Mesti lagi lama kan? :D

Because my current cooler bag is already like this:

What's good about the new cooler bag? Here's my review (just arrived today so no review on the performance yet, just the physical)

1. 2 separated compartments. Upper one for the pump and the lower one for the bottles.
2. Upper compartment can fit the whole Medela Harmony (with the handle and all) all together!
3. Can fit 6 Medela 150ml bottles, including 1 Coleman Bright Icepack
4. I love the camouflage pattern. Hahahaha....

Tak sabar nak carry around with my camouflage SSC hahahahahaah *over excited and over obsessed with the camouflage*

Babywearing - SSC in Action At A Reception

Hahhhhhhhhh...

Got my custom made soft-structured carrier on Monday and I was like menggelupur already - could hardly wait to use it. Went for SKT on Wednesday and On Thursday Mak dropped by the hotel. She tried carrying Amna in the SSC, she likes it very much! Siap offer lagi nak carry heheheh~ Then on Saturday ada reception. Jeng jeng jengggggg...

Sebenarnya Amna baru bangun tidur. :P

After that we went to IKEA. Berjalan-jalan 2 jam lebih tak lenguh pun but then baju Amna already lencun dengan peluh (baju dia material tak serap peluh), so we put her in the stroller. Siap terjumpa Fara and Medcham - siap racun diorang suruh beli and demo on Fahad heheheheh~ *lambai-lambai kat Fara yang tengah menunggu hari je tu :D*

Where did I order the SSC? Get yours today with Erin Adzmi on Facebook (search : Erin Adzmi). Totally worth it! Forget about all the brands (Pognae, Ergo, Snuggbaby etc.) they cost you a bomb! This one, I guarantee saves you a lot and plus, you can choose the pattern you want. Plus, you can change the front cover, head cover, of course with extra ka-ching! :D

I purposely ordered a camouflage pattern - because I like the masculinity shown. Owh even my mom said I was rather keen on army-camouflage-thingy since I was small. Pastu nak encourage my husband to babywear too. Katanya Boba Wrap tu dia tak pandai. Dah ada SSC ni, no more excuses :P

Product : Nose Cleaner

Amna kan selsema lately. Sebenarnya beli nose cleaner ni dah lama. Baru nak buat review. Awal-awal masa Amna selsema (for the first time), beli penyedut yang bulb tu. Tak jalannnnn... Hidung beliau kecik. Jadi satu hari tu saya berjalan-jalan kat Parkson Alamanda, tengok, eh, ada nose cleaner ala yang Fara cakap tapi versi lain sikit. Yang Fara cakap tu macam straw.

Yang tube panjang tu untuk letak kat mulut. Macam bulb kecik tu letak kat hidung baby. Clear bottle tu nanti hingus masuk situ.

Hasilnya? Marvelousssss... Hingus Amna berjaya disedut. Tapi macam biasa, struggle lebih sikit sebab dia memang tak suka orang pegang2 hidung dia ni. Ibu pulak suka jeee korek-korek hidung Amna sebab asyik berkerak. Tu yang dia ngamuk sakan :P. Tapi tengok-tengok jugak sebab kadang-kadang ada back flow, hingus masuk kat straw tu. Product cakap takde back flow, tipuuuu... Tapi jangan bimbang, tak sempat termasuk dalam mulut anda. Lainlah kalau anda jenis sedut hingus anak sampai naik sheikh, pastu tak perasan sudah back flow dan hingus pulak masuk dalam mulut anda :P

Sila lah beli nose cleaner ni kalau ada yang jenis tak sanggup sedut pakai mulut directly. Bukan saya tak pernah sedut, tapi tiap kali sedut pakai mulut sendiri, tak feel. Macam tak keluar pun hingus tu. Poyo je kan ibu macam ni :P

Babywearing - Boba Wrap

Amna suka. Dia tak banyak bunyi.
Cuma suka hisap kain kat tepi kepala tu.

Heh. Ai memang suka Boba Wrap ni. Terasa macho je bila pakai untuk pegi jalan-jalan kat Pasar Kedai Payang awal puasa haritu :D. Sebab orang pandang pelik kan. Selalu mat sallehs je pakai wrap what-so-ever ni. Kat Kl mostly dah jadi trend pakai kain wrap or ring sling. But for Amna yang berat dah berkoyan ni, better pakai something yang supported by both shoulders :D. Baru-baru ni pakaikan si Yan Ping pulak. Punnn Amna senyap je tak bising-bising sampailah tertidur dalam wrap tu. Selesa sangat kot sampai tertidur :D

Cara nak pakaikan Boba Wrap ni sangat mudah. Cuba tengok kat bawah ni. Kot-kot la korang nak pakai Boba Wrap kan... Tapi satu la yang leceh sikit, bila bukak tu memang terbelit-belit sebab kain dia panjang hehehehehe~ Read left to right.

Basic Tie for Boba Wrap

  

  

1. Unfold the wrap and find the Boba Wrap logo at the center. With the logo facing outward over your navel, bring the outstretched fabric behind your back.
2. Cross the two pieces behind your back. Bring each side up and over your shoulders to the front while keeping the fabric stretched. Try to keep the fabric flat so it doesn’t twist.
3. Take both pieces in one hand and tuck them under the section with the label on it while keeping the tension.
4. Pull down. The label piece will rise to your chest and should be adjusted to fit snug and cling to your body.
5. Cross the pieces and bring them around your waist behind your back. Make sure that the pieces cross each other high on your chest area. Your sternum is a good reference point. There is no need to leave any extra space for your baby.
6. Cross the wrap behind your back and if there is enough fabric bring it back to the front. You can tie a double knot behind your back, in the front or on your hip.

Love Your Baby Hold

 

 

1. Holding your baby securely, carefully pass his or her leg under the shoulder piece that is closest to your body.
2. Spread the fabric wide over your baby’s entire bottom, back and shoulder. The wider you spread it the more comfortable your baby will be.
3. Tuck your baby under the second shoulder piece and spread out the fabric again. The fabric should be spread out to the back of your baby’s knees on both sides.
4. Pull the logo piece of the fabric over your baby’s bottom and up to the back of their neck. Your baby’s legs can be inside or outside the fabric.

Takut tak selamat? Insha Allah selamatttt... Janji Basic Tie tu korang ikat ketat-ketat, jangan longgar-longgar. The material is a stretchy type, so your baby will definitely feel very comfortable, snug fit gituuu... Kalau si Amna tengah panas berpeluh-peluh pun boleh senyappppp je duk dalam tu (beliau biasanya tak selesa bila panas), inikan pulak your non-fussy babies. :D

Wish List - Preparation for Amna's First Solid Food

Hey heyyyyy Amna is already 5 months old! Cepatnyaaa masa berlalu. I've been browsing for recipes to be introduced to her when she's 6 months old, and I have to buy several things for the preparation.

1. Sippy cup (dah beli yang takde handle from The First Years), I want the one with handles :D. Terrrrrberkenan dengan Momma Developmental Drink. Comelllllll!
2. Food grinder brand Munchkin tu. Perlu ke tak sebenarnya? Macam perlu sebab nak balik kampung nanti senang kan? Heheheh~ Tak payah tumpang blender MIL :P. Ok, kena beli.
3. Food mill / hand blender. Hmmm... *terbayang Moulinex hahaahaaaa*. Blender kat rumah dah banyak. so optional lah kot.
4. Food-feeder yang sekali dengan bottle tu. No spills ye. Heheheeee
5. Cutleries - pinggan mangkuk sudu mudu hahahahaa...
6. Ice cubes maker with lid. Senang nak freeze her pureed vegies and fruits :D. Nak beli kat Giant. Yang brand Baby Cubes tu sangat comel tapi mahal T_____T. Tau jelah nafsu membeli ni sangat tinggi. Stroller dah mahal, bottles dah mahal, tapi sebab pakai benda-benda ni lama, takpe :P. Cubes ni sementara Amna kecik je. Pakai pun maybe dalam sebulan dua sebelum dia makan mashed food kan? :D
